• Preoperative examination by Marc Hirsch, M.D.
  At many laser centers a technician or non-medical doctor will perform the preoperative exam rather than the surgeon. In some cases these practices also have a separate fee for the preoperative exam.
• Postoperative care for one year
  Dr. Hirsch will perform all the postoperative visits; at many other laser centers the surgeon will not do the postoperative visits.

Dr. Hirsch on the LASIK Lifetime Guarantee

Some practices and physicians now offer a lifetime guarantee after LASIK surgery. This does sound very appealing, but is misleading to patients. In some cases, LASIK guarantees are not fulfilled because a practice closes its doors or the eye surgeon stops practicing. The patient should also read the fine print as the lifetime guarantee can require the patient have annual eye exams amongst other requirements to maintain eligibility.

Dr. Hirsch finds that after 1 year post operatively it is rare to need an enhancement. Dr. Hirsch will perform any necessary enhancements are already covered at no charge for three years following LASIK surgery. Dr. Hirsch does not offer a lifetime guarantee but does provide free required enhancements in the first three years.
