1) Technology and Experience
Dr. Hirsch is the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at St. Luke’s Medical Center. He is one of a few board certified and fellowship trained corneal specialist performing LASIK. He has performed thousands of eye surgeries. He has personal experience with laser vision correction having undergone the procedure himself. As a patient he went through all the same considerations as his patients and thus is uniquely positioned as a surgeon to advise his patients. Dr. Hirsch uses state-of the art technology to perform his laser vision correction procedures. He performs LASIK surgery with the most cutting edge technology, the Alcon WaveLight® Refractive Suite, for better outcomes and faster healing.
He uses the Wavelight EX500 Excimer Laser. This laser has sophisticated tracking devices to ensure the treatment is placed with the utmost accuracy. It is approved by the FDA for a wide range of treatments including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.
He performs his procedures at a state-of-the art facility with a highly trained technical staff. The same staff members calibrate and operate the equipment. The equipment is maintained at it’s highest functioning level.
2) Personalized Care
Unlike, many LASIK surgeons, Dr. Hirsch provides personalized care and exams at your initial complementary consultation, and all post-surgical care. Dr. Hirsch uses a private medical practice with local management and a local office answering phones. The staff is very experienced and dedicated, many who have been with the practice for over 20 years since the beginning of LASIK.
Many of the staff, including Dr. Hirsch have undergone laser vision correction and have personal experience as a patient.
Dr. Hirsch is a fully private practice with no outside stockholders or owners nd does not cut corners to increase profit. The number one focus is on the best care of the patient.
3) Affordability
Dr. Hirsch provides one of the most competitive prices for all-laser LASIK in Milwaukee. There are no hidden fees and prices are not elevated to account for excessive marketing costs or co-management payments to referring doctors.
The process starts with a free LASIK consultation. After your LASIK surgery, all surgical medications and postoperative care are included in the cost and covered for the first 3 years. Any re-treatment is at no cost in the first three years, and at full price after this. This avoids the pitfalls of lifetime warranties that require yearly eye exams and are only valid once vision drops to significant levels.
LASIK financing is available through CareCredit and Dr. Hirsch offers discounts on prompt payments.
4) Clinical and Surgical Standards
Dr. Hirsch sets his criteria for surgical candidacy at the highest level. This often causes him to turn away patients that other surgeons consider good candidates. While these patients often have excellent results, Dr. Hirsch does not provide the surgery to patients who he deems to be in the “gray” zone for candidacy. He does all the pre-operative and post-operative exams therefore is always available to address a patient’s questions either before or after the surgery.
The field of refractive surgery is constantly changing with new technology; some are worthwhile and some are not. Dr. Hirsch is neither personally invested in the technology he is using; nor a paid consultant for any of companies whose technology he uses. He is only focused on what technology provides the optimal outcomes for his patients and can quickly adopt promising new advances.
